Colón Theater, opened in 1908 with Giuseppe Verdi´s ¨Aida¨, is one of the most famous lyrical opera houses in the world. It has introduced the most prominent artists of the century.
It has a stable cast, a corps of ballet, orchestras, workshops, a library and a museum. Its acoustics is excellent and it has a seating capacity of 3.542 and allows 700 standing people. It is 8.202 meters square and it combines the typical designs of Italian, Greek, German and French Renaissance. The main hall has seven floors arranged in a horse-shoe shape, three boxes, gods, circles, galleries and upper galleries. It was built by architects Francesco Tamburini, Vittorio Meano and Jules Dormal and the construction lasted 20 years.
