San Bernardo is considered the ¨family town¨. It is linked to Mar de Ajó by the promenade avenue. This town in the Atlantic coast has become a place with exclusive lodging, keeping the range of dunes that surrounds it held by the thick vegetation.
In San Bernardo activities do not stop at night. Each member of the family finds a place of amusement: theaters, parks, bars, discos, pedestrian streets, a Bingo Hall and the Observatory. In the latter, you can watch other planets, galaxies and constelations.
For those who want to do something ¨different¨, there are several companies that offer to go fishing on a fishing boat guaranteeing satisfaction. There, you will fish read breams, pompanos, corvinas, meros, soles or pollacks.
Every year, during the third December weekend the National Festival of Sun and Family is celebrated at the Plaza de la Familia (Family Square). There, the Blessing of the Waters, the Institutions Parade, the National Queen Contest, the visit of other queens, Shows, etc take place. |

El Señor Juan Carlos Chiozza, en 1942, consideró posible la realización de un área balnearia en la costa Atlántica, cerca de donde ya se había desarrollado Mar de Ajó. Así fue que junto a familiares y algunos amigos compró tierras (191 Hectáreas) a la familia Duhau en el entonces Partido de General Lavalle.
Esta zona no era considerada de gran valor ya que naturalmente no contaba con las condiciones necesarias para la realización de actividades agrícolas o ganaderas. Este visionario organizó la Compañía Inmobiliaria del Este Argentino y fundó el balneario de San Bernardo.
"San Bernardo" era nombre de la estancia, evoca a Don Bernardo Duhau quien fuera dueño de la estancia y a San Bernardo de Claraval, un monje del siglo XII que dedicó su vida a la religión y fue un infatigable pacificador. El casco de la estancia en parte sirvió para el surgimiento de aquel pequeño pueblo balneario.
Desde su fundación, en 1942, hasta ahora, San Bernardo ha crecido de manera incesante para convertirse en una ciudad importante con infraestructura hotelera de categoría, al igual que sus departamentos, casas y paseos de compras, sin perder de vista el entorno natural y las playas que están bordeadas por un cordón de médanos |
