General Lavalle is a traditionalist locality located in the center east extreme of Buenos Aires Province. The zone is known like “Pagos del Tuyú”, and besides being head of the party, it centralizes the traffic between farms and rural roads by which travel from small trucks to extensive herds. Only 300 kilometers separate it from the Federal Capital.
The icon of this region is the singing cowboy Santos Vega who was turned into a legend in the homonymous text of Rafael Obligado. Each year is celebrated the Fiesta Nacional Semana de Santos Vega. The tourism in General Lavalle is developed around rural life, the history reflected in still-standing old constructions and the diversity of natural environment.
Some tours that can be carried out in general Lavalle imply visits to the Ria de Ajo, Large-Nature Reserve La Salada Lake, Reserves of the Deer of the Pampas, Samborombón Bay, Humedal –Wetland- and Bonito Lake. The history is present in the Church Our Lady of the Mercy, Museum and Park Santos Vega, Ruins of the Salting House of Pedro Luro.
Between February and March is carried out the Fiesta Nacional Semana de Santos Vega: a popular and traditional festival to enjoy the rural tradition and indigenous music. In its tourist calendar also figures the boat race San Isidro-General Lavalle in May.
In the coast, from Punta Raza toward the south, it has been established that there Santos Vega maintained a payada (improvised musical dialogue) with the devil. His presumed remainders rest in the Park of the Regional Museum General Lavalle.

.. Historia (subir) |
