Bahia Blanca is a harbor city located in the southeastern extreme of Buenos Aires Province. Its economic development turns it into one of the most important in the Argentine Republic. It is 10 kilometers away from the sea but the development of the suburbs makes it reach the coastal coast including localities as Port Ingeniero White. It is the entrance gate to Patagonia since it is located in the geographical section that separates this unique place in the world of the humid Pampa.
Its attraction is historic and urban. In Independencia Park we find the Botanical and Zoological Garden. The park also has a water mirror that amuses the contour of Buenos Aires Province, where are indicated the existing lighthouses in this province. It also has public pools, Equine section of Tiro Federal Club, with two trails for jumps.
One of the urban circuits is that of Neighborhoods and Parks. It begins in the City Hall visiting the Historic Center and the north-northwest sector of the city. It comprises: the City Hall; Alsina commercial; the Municipal Theater; the Historic Museum; Alem Avenue, old street of country houses and mansions; Museum of Fine Arts and Contemporary Art; Ezequiel Martínez Estrada Foundation; House of Culture; University Club; Nacional del Sur University, De Mayo Park, Rose Garden, Museum of the Fifth Body of Army; lineal Park, Woman´s Walk; Monument to the Falklands, De Los Lapices small square, Monument to Cesar Milstein, Walk of Sculptures, Neighborhood Park Palihue, Golf Club, viewpoint, and shopping Centers, Harding Green Village, Aeroposta Museum, Naval Aviation Museum, Patagonia Park Neighborhood, Independence Park, Park of the City and Museum of Natural Science.
Another circuit is the Historic Center: a tour through the first constructions and the consolidation of the most representative institutions at local level since the epoch of the foundation of the city in 1828 as Protective Fortress Argentina.
Leaving Bahia Blanca we can visit the adjacent localities of Ingeniero White, General Daniel Cerri and Cabildo. Though they are nearby, each one has a different idiosyncrasy and economy product of the motive of its foundation and the origin of the community that populated them. The first one is especially harbor, the second arose to stop thieves and the third one is product of the arrival of the railroad to the area.

Bahía Blanca se originó como fuerte militar denominado Fortaleza Protectora Argentina el 11 de abril de 1828. El origen del nombre deriva de las características geográficas visibles del lugar. Esta fortaleza tenía una forma estrellada y sus cuatro extremos se orientaban cada uno hacia los puntos cardinales. Debía proteger el ganado del avance de los pueblos originarios y de la flota brasileña que recorría la zona.
Fue declarada ciudad el 22 de octubre de 1895. Diez años antes había arribado el ferrocarril que impulsó su función portuaria y la producción agropecuaria disparando el intercambio comercial. Hoy es el área desde donde ingresan y se exportan productos dirigidos a todo el sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires.
